Hey it is what it is… I don’t know about you but how do you refer to a man that has fathered your child(ren) that you are no longer involved with. Nor were you married to this man. Hell you might not even like him as a person any more. Well for me…. BABY DADDY It has been told that the slang term Baby Daddy and Baby Mama originated in Jamaica and entered into our society through the music. Linval Thompson a Jamaican musician wrote a song titled “ Baby Mother” and another titled “Baby Father” In the song “Baby Father” The opening line is: "Baby father, don't run. Don't hide." Some other artists that speak about it are: Queen Pen OutKast Trick Daddy Bass Patrol I love it. Studies show that the term refers to a child who was made on the outside. Meaning the parents were not married or even common law. The child is a bastard… So instead of saying Oh that’s my bastards daddy I just say THAT’S JUST MY BABY DADDY.. I have very little assistance in the raising of my children. Did I say little… Just making sure you read it…. We are not co-parenting. I do this on my own So what is this man that I conceived this baby with to me now He is JUST MY BABY DADDY. This word has no impact on our child… This is just a saying to state the relationship between us. I think it is a fun word to say… Some people don’t like it If you look up the definition of the word in the Urban Dictionary the term not only includes the lack of marriage and involvement between parents, but also include references to broken character, broken will, and even more broken cash flow (unless you’re a “baby mama”, in which case you’re a gold-digging slut). Now I am no gold-digging slut… Sometimes I wish I was maybe I would not struggle so hard raising 2 children on my own… But neither here nor there…… The word does not take the negative impact that I believe it once carried when it was first introduced to us in our society. To me it just shows the act of fathering a child with no real parenting.. So for me to be called a baby mama by my terms would be a little different since I am the one raising our child. However it is a slang word. So it does not bother me. Some people say that is can mean there is still some involvement between the 2 parents… Not in my case…. Only your daughter wants to talk to you involvement. Lol Hey but some men can always hit they baby mama (not like with a fist you know **** em’) Anyway I know when I meet a man and he finds out you have children… Uhh you still mess around with your Baby Daddy…..?
